First time owner, Arthur White realised a long held ambition with the purchase of New Perk in August 2002. 'I had always wanted to get into horses' said White, 'when I retired I had the time and the wherewithal'.

Matt Gingell, owner of Runcton Hall Racing Stables, has acquired New Perk and his owner as a combined package.  Arthur now rides his 'pride and joy' daily and has become a part of the team at Runcton Hall. 'There's not many trainers who would take on a horse and its owner, but its been brilliant'.

The gelding purchased for 4,100 gns. as an untried 4-year-old is currently at the top of winners list at Runcton Hall.

It took 28 attempts for New Perk to realise his potential having a lot of near misses along the way, once being beaten by just a couple of inches.  Arthur thinks the day New Perk finally won was well worth the wait. 'He's always been a trier, says Arthur; 'very game' the form book says. 'He's got the idea now that winning is good and he's very competitive'.

Tirailleur is on New Perk's heels with prize money, so time will tell who comes top of the leader board this time next year.
